What is the single most important aspect of self improvement? I would have a hard time
coming up with any more important aspect than having self confidence. If you don't have that self confidence it is very hard to really believe you can improve yourself in any other way. It
is vital to have that confidence that you can succeed and change yourself.

Work Break: A One Minute Mental Vacation

How would you like to take a one-minute vacation? Do you think it can help you cope with your challenges each day? Let's see how hypnosis and relaxation can help.

The purpose of this section is for you to learn how to relax in just a few moments.When you use several of these moments during a typical work or school day, you will find very wonderful results.

Just as it takes many repetitions of angry moments or stressful periods of time during the day to build up stress.It will take many repetitions of calm and peaceful periods of time to build a perfect "mental vacation."

To begin this vacation you may want to print these directions out and then either read them aloud to yourself or read them into a recording device.When you read them to yourself or into a device, picture yourself relaxing very deeply while you give yourself these suggestions. Pause at the end of each paragraph.Pause from 20 to 30 seconds at first. After you are finding yourself relaxing very deeply, you may want to change your pause to just three or four seconds.

Are you ready? Lets see how much we can really relax using this technique.

My Vacation Begins!

I will begin the relaxation process by focusing in my mind on a place where I always have total peace..... It may be resting beside a stream or a lake.

It may be watching the waves on the ocean. It may be a scene high up in the mountains. Or it may be in the comfort of my own bed. Whatever I place in my mind I use for my vacation. The image I find will be the correct one.

As I think about this scene. My body is relaxing, deeply relaxing. All of my muscles are going loose, and limp, and perfectly relaxed. Each and every deep breath that I take is relaxing me deeply. Nothing will disturb me during my vacation. If an emergency happens, I know I can respond very quickly.

My mind is keenly alert and aware, while my body relaxes, perfectly.....I am taking a very deep breath now. .As I inhale I notice how my chest expands to take in each cleansing breath.As I exhale, I notice how all of the tension leaves my lungs.I feel good, I feel fine, I feel perfectly and completely, relaxed. Nothing will disturb me.Each and every breath that I take is assisting me in relaxing deeply, soundly and perfectly.

I am thinking about a place that is very relaxing. As I firmly picture that place in my mind, my body relaxes perfectly. All of my cares are just drifting away.I may feel myself relaxing in this very calm and peaceful place. I feel and see and hear and smell this scene of deep, relaxation.
All of my cares are drifting away. I know I can always bring them back when I want to, but I prefer to let them drift away. As my cares are drifting away.. My body relaxes deeply, soundly and perfectly.

When I go to bed tonight, I will sleep soundly as well. I will let all the tension of the day drift off into space. (Long pause)

Now I am ready to emerge from this wonderful state of mind.Whatever was bothering me before this session will cease to bother me at all.Whenever I use this exercise, I will find myself relaxing very quickly and very deeply.At the count of three, I will emerge from this condition.

One..... Two.....Three..... I am wide awake..... alert..... and feeling good in every way!

How are you feeling? I hope you are feeling great. This exercise may take you three to five minutes initially. Read this script into a tape recorder or other recording device. Use it any time you desire. The best time to beat stress is before it has a chance to take hold. Use this exercise before entering those stressful periods of the day. This will make it harder for stress to take hold. Then, use it while going through periods of stress. Finally, use it just after a stressful period. Once you practice this exercise, you will be able to relax in just about a minute.

Five or ten strategically placed "mental vacations," will vastly improve your life.

Don’t you have the confidence to do this work …… Come on, you can do it……. Have confidence…… What does all this mean? Why do we say all these words when we are expecting somebody to do something? Why do these words generate a zeal to win and achieve the target? Why this word has so much to do with truth, trust, win, achieve, and move forward in life? Why do we react so positively after hearing this word? What if nobody uses this word ahead of some challenging task? Does this word guarantees your success and win?

There are so many questions which come to my mind whenever I hear somebody using the word ‘confidence’. There are so many words we speak but only few enter the mind, the heart and the soul. Whether it is an exam, a football match or a stage show, you are showered with this word ahead of all such events. Does this so called ‘confidence’ comes only when somebody says it to you or is it somewhere inside us and need to be stimulated by one’s brain itself ? One day I asked my father that what is confidence and where is its origin? He smiled as if I asked something really funny and not very seriously he pointed his finger towards my heart and then towards my head and then rotated his finger around my body from head to tow, and said, “ confidence generates from your heart, sent to your brain for processing and then supplied to your body’s each and every nerve”. I was old enough to understand that his reply to my question was not a serious one and he said what immediately hit his mind.

It was a rainy evening the same day and I sat alone in my room with my eyes closed and my hands locked behind my head. In these few hours my brain had done something which changed my attitude for the rest of life. My father’s words were transformed into some equations which I was not able to distinguish clearly. My eyelids were down but there was movement inside. I was feeling the pressure in my forehead. Suddenly I began to realize that my body’s temperature was higher now and there was sweat in some portions. With my eyes closed I began to think about this. I started concentrating on the my father’s words. They continuously echoed in my brain. Suddenly the sentenced was reduced to few words which said ‘heart’, ‘mind’, ‘soul’ and ‘confidence’. I opened up my eyes. The mind state was a bit different now. For a moment I felt that I have solved those equations and I knew all the answers. I came out of my room, a deep breathe, stretched my body with my arms up in the air and stared at the sunset and I don’t know how and why but the fist words which came out of my mouth were, “confidence generates from your heart, sent to your brain for processing and then supplied to your body’s each and every nerve”.

Even today I am not able to exactly define and locate the origin of confidence but I have a clear vision about confidence which in times have always proved to be correct and perfect. Confidence is actually a characteristic which is possessed by every human being. Confidence to speak, confidence to trust, confidence to do something, confidence to face some competition and list goes on. It is in every heart beat and flows in and out with every breath. Confidence is a symbol of positivism, truth, trust, happiness, win, and achievement. Confidence reflects your personality, the way you think, the way you react to situations, your abilities and your capabilities. It is a representation of your mental strength which is the root to your physical strength. Confidence is a tool which acts as an amplifier to your abilities. Confidence acts as a protective layer to your abilities and capabilities. Higher the confidence, more is the protection. Confidence is a result of positive attitude plus knowledge plus hard work, accompanied with four Ds, i.e. Discipline, Determination, Dedication and Devotion. Each of these constituents are essential. Confidence does not come with any wishes You are confident when you know what you have to do, how you are going to do it and why you are doing it. Confidence is a major player when you face almost equivalent or better competition. Whatever you do, if your efforts are accompanied with confidence, your chances are better. Confidence can be realized, since it is an inborn quality, from anywhere and anybody. An ant who tries to pull a sugar crystal much bigger that her size is sometimes the source of confidence.

The enemy of confidence is fear but confidence always beats fear. To be confident fear must be murdered and murdered brutally. To kill fear you don’t need a knife or a pistol but confidence itself. Trust yourself. Be honest and face the reality. Don’t expect others to come and support you . This is not your job and it does not lies in your hands. All you need is the support of your heart, mind and soul. Hold them together and see yourself as a winner. Confidence and fear cannot go together. If your heart, mind and soul are full of confidence then there is no room for fear.

Now I understand that it was not my father who was not serious while answering my question but it was me who didn’t have confidence in my father’s reply. Now whenever somebody asks me, what is confidence and where is its origin? I say , “ confidence generates from your heart, sent to your brain for processing and then supplied to your body’s each and every nerve”.

Stream Of Conciousness

One thing that is important to realize about thought: one thought always leads to another. It is impossible to have one thought without having another one. What does this have to do with positive and negative thinking?

Everything. The thoughts usually follow one after another--usually in a similar vein, until there is some type of interruption that changes the thought pattern. Sometimes the interruption is outside of ourselves. Other times, the interruption is something we initiate when we take conscious control of our thoughts.

So, the point is this. Thoughts follow one another and eventually create a stream of thought. A stream of consciousness. The question I have ask is how clear (positive) is your stream? If you are protecting your thoughts, consciously keeping them positive, then positive circumstances will generally flow. If you just "go with the flow," without consciously taking control of your own mind, it is almost inevitable that a high percentage of pollution (negative thinking) will find it's way into your "stream."

So, if you want to keep your thoughts positive, it is absolutely crucial that you feed your mind success related thoughts every day. It could be books, audio programs, affirmations...whatever. The more positive material you feed it, the less time your mind will have to wander. Eventually, your mind will be so positive, there won't be any room left for negative thoughts.

You cannot afford the penalty of a negative thought. Because there is no such thing as just a single negative thought. Resolve to take control of your mind this moment and fill your mind, and the world around you, with positive thought.
